Wild and Wonderful Resources, Part II

Several years ago, ETS! published a listing of some of our favorite publications. A, sort of, ETS! seal of approval. If you missed it, check it out at http://eatthestate.org/01-47/WildWonderfulResources.htm. Looking back through the list, we wouldn't change too much. The Anderson Valley Advertiser is still the best publication in the English language. The other publications listed are still excellent sources of information. For the most part. In These Times has gotten a bit too "moderate" for our taste, for example, despite it's having Geov as a lead article last month. And two of the finer rags, From The Hebrew Press and Bank Check Quarterly, have lamentably ceased publishing--though the the legacy of Bank Check carries on in the work of the International Rivers Network.

But though many of us still prefer to receive our news via the printed page, the breadth and efficiency of the so-called "World Wide Web" as a purveyor of current events is undeniable. The "Information Superhighway" is moving inexorably toward that state of cultural bliss known as "All Advertising All The Time". But it's certainly possible (as of this writing) to obtain accurate, biased (in a good way!), timely news through your phone-line hook-up. The following are some of our favorite sites for doing just that.

Note that while we've tried to include sites covering a healthy range of issues, this is far from an exhaustive compilation. It's really just the tip of the iceberg. Readers who feel we've made one or many glaring omissions are ever-so-encouraged to submit additional URLs for inclusion in afuture update. Note too that many of the sites listed include within their "wild and wonderful" "corner of cyberspace" tonnes and tonnes of additional links. Now, on to the goodies. (Or, as Dan Rather once said: "Courage.")
